Student Services


Our mission is to help every student at the University of Northampton have the best possible university experience.


Help Desks


Our Student Services Help Desks are the first port of call for any students requiring assistance, information and advice, with our professional, experienced and approachable teams who are here to help you both before and after you join the University. We have a wealth of knowledge and experience on a diverse range of student issues and if we don’t know the answer, we will know someone who does.


Financial Guidance Team


Our Financial Guidance Team is here to offer information and support on student finance issues, including student loans, grants and bursaries, budgeting and money management. The Team also administers a range of funds that are distributed to students; over £300,000 each academic year through a variety of funds.


Medical Centre


We have a doctor’s surgery on Park Campus that is available to all students and open five days a week. Students can make appointments with a doctor or a nurse and there is a telephone number for out-of-hours emergencies.


Gym


Based on Park Campus, the gym provides a professional, convenient service to all staff and students, with modern Technogym cardiovascular and resistance equipment.


Counselling and Mental Health Team We offer a free, confidential and


non-judgemental service available throughout your time at University. The Counselling and Mental Health Team is also a source of specialist information and advice about referral agencies.


ASSIST


We are committed to ensuring students with disability-related needs can achieve their full potential. This service is available to all students who have disability-related needs, including those with physical and sensory impairments, specific learning differences such as dyslexia, autism spectrum, mental health difficulties or medical conditions.


We can, where appropriate, provide you with a diverse range of support including:


• Accessing Disabled Students’ Allowance • Providing dyslexia screening tests • Arranging extra time in exams • Priority accommodation arrangements • One-to-one specialist study skills support.

Based at Avenue Campus, the team assesses students’ learning needs to support their applications for the Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA). They also provide ICT training in specialist software and hardware.


Residential Life


We have dedicated staff on hand to support our students. Providing pastoral support and guidance, our Residential Life Team is available 22 hours per day during term time and deals with a range of concerns from homesickness through to medical emergencies.


Multi-Faith Chaplaincy


We have a team of Chaplains from different faiths who work together to serve everyone at the University. Our Multi-Faith Chaplaincy is based on Park Campus and students are all welcome to drop in at any time to talk, meet others or simply to enjoy some quiet time. Multi-Faith prayer rooms with washing facilities are provided in the Chaplaincy Centre at Park Campus and are also available at Avenue Campus. Events include drop-in lunches, Buddhist relaxation and meditation sessions and yoga classes.


Student Services has been awarded the Matrix Standard, a prestigious quality standard for information, advice and guidance services.
