Entry requirements
• A typical offer is 300+ UCAS tariff points or A Level grades of BBC (including a Science subject — Biology is desirable). Applicants should have five or more GCSEs at grade C or above, including English, Mathematics and Science.
• BTEC courses in a relevant subject area eg. Science/Health related that show equivalency with the 320 UCAS tariff points requirement.
• An Access to Higher Education course with 60 credits: 30 Merit, 30 Distinction
• Successful completion of the first year of a relevant Foundation Degree.
• Other qualifications may be considered. Please contact the Admissions to discuss these on an individual basis.
• A Health and Social Care Diploma at Level 3 (A level)
Evidence of academic study completed within the last 5 years will be required. Applicants must have a full UK manual driving licence and by the first day of the course have their C1 practical test booked. All offers are subject to successful occupational health screening and a satisfactory Disclosure
and Barring Screening (DBS) report. Please note we do not accept deferral applications for future intakes. We look for students who have relevant Urgent and Emergency Health Care experience who have a good knowledge of the role of the Paramedic. Transferable skills relevant to Paramedic practice are essential with an excellent recommendation reference.
Course summary
This course will provide you with a wide range of academic and clinical components to equip you with the required competencies to become a Paramedic registered with the Health & Care Professions Council. The course has a modular curriculum, ensuring that you are able to develop both academically and clinically, practice based placements as well as blended academic study is included in each term of study. Paramedic practice spans a range of disciplines and the course will cover areas including patient assessment and management, biosciences, professional studies, research methods and autonomous clinical care. The course incorporates practice based placements throughout the three years, including both ambulance and in-hospital and community placements. Currently the Emergency Driving course is included in the course at additional cost and you will have the opportunity to undertake this course at the end of the first year.
