Standard entry requirements apply. A typical offer is 280 UCAS tariff points or A level grades of BCC, or BTEC equivalent, DMM. We welcome international applicants and applications from students with a range of non-traditional educational or professional qualifications. Students with appropriate qualifications (for example HND) may be exempt from stages one or two of the course.
Course summary
The programme gives you a broad, well-rounded view of biology from organismal, molecular, cellular, ecological and evolutionary perspectives. Biological sciences are at the forefront of current technological and intellectual advances and are fundamental to understanding how humans interact with and influence the natural environment. There is the option to undertake overseas field study in stage two, with professional development and work placement modules at stage three. Graduate careers have included nature conservation, microbiology research and science journalism.

This flexible programme allows you to tailor your degree to suit your particular interests within the area of environmental science. If you wish to focus on a particular area, we offer specialist pathways in Climate Change, Landscape Ecology and Wastes. However, by taking this degree title, are able to maintain an interest across the discipline. Fieldwork and lab-based study reinforce theoretical learning throughout the programme and you will be introduced to a range of scientific concepts and disciplines. There are placement opportunities with a module on career planning in the final year as well as exchange opportunities through the Erasmus programme. This programme is accredited by the Institution of Environmental Sciences.
