New Parameters Launched for Portable Parallel Analyser (PPA) Platform


Hach is excited to announce the much anticipated expansion of their Chemkey chemistries available for the Hach SL1000 Portable Parallel Analyser (PPA). The new Chemkey parameters include hardness, alkalinity, orthophosphate and iron - applicable for testing drinking water and boiler water.


“We are very excited to expand the Chemkey parameters available for drinking water and boiler water applications,” said Wendy Bretches, Global Product Manager at Hach.


The PPA platform offers faster testing of multiple parameters, greatly reduced variability from test to test and operator to operator, and significantly less hassle than traditional methods of testing. This simple hand-held instrument performs the same tests with less than half the manual steps compared with traditional methods, while producing highly accurate and reliable results. It is able to test up to four colorimetric and two probe-based parameters simultaneously. By eliminating the need to run multiple tests back to back, the user saves time and money.


For boiler water and drinking water distribution systems, only Hach PPA can deliver error-proof field analysis of critical water parameters in as little as 10 minutes. With fewer manual steps,


operators will have more time to focus on important aspects of their job. PPA is simple to use, offering operators of all skill levels the flexibility to test for the parameters that are relevant to their process. Due to the patented Chemkey design, results are consistent and repeatable, enabling operators to be confident in their results.

This platform is comprised of both laboratory and online turbidimeters and has been developed to be the next standard in the evolution of turbidity. These turbidimeters employ an innovative 360° x 90° Detection Technology that sees more of the sample than any other turbidimeter. The unique optical design delivers the best low-level precision and sensitivity while minimising variability from test to test.


The Hach TU5 Series Turbidity Platform will, for the first time, remove user uncertainty over which of their turbidity measurements to trust, thanks to the identical 360° x 90° Detection Technology in both lab and online instruments. In addition, all turbidity-related activities, from maintenance and cleaning to actually taking a measurement, will be done in less time. The TU5 Series dramatically reduces the time needed to get a turbidity measurement users can rely on, with 98% less online sample surface area to clean, sealed vials for calibration, and the elimination of the need for indexing and silicone oil in the lab. Not to mention, a smaller online sample volume means turbidity events will be detected almost immediately. “The TU5 Series represents a shift in how the world will measure turbidity. Since the 360° x 90° Detection Technology is identical in both lab and online instruments, users will consistently see results that match,” says Kirk Hetherington, Director of Global Vertical Markets at Hach. “These matching results will immediately allow water professionals to have confidence in their measurements and help them deliver the best possible product to their communities.
