Mourning Alice Endress
The Endress+Hauser Group (Switzerland) is in mourning for Alice Endress. Following a brief illness, the widow of the company founder died peacefully in her sleep on 6 July 2016, surrounded by her family. She was 97 years old.
Alice Endress-Vogt was born on 14 May 1919 in the community of Schwyz in central Switzerland. After
attending a trade and hotel management school, she moved to the south of Switzerland where she met Georg H Endress who was performing his military service in Tessin. The couple married in 1946 and had their fi rst child, a son, one year later. Three more sons and four daughters followed.
Throughout her life, Alice Endress deliberately maintained a distance from the company that her husband started in 1953. For many Endress+Hauser employees she was nevertheless an important and esteemed person. She was present at many company events until the last months of her life, especially in the Basel region, and always felt very comfortable in the midst of things. She attended the annual Endress Family Day in Berlin as recently as May 2016.
Alice Endress was laid to rest in Arlesheim, Switzerland next to her husband who passed away in 2008. Family and companions said their fi nal farewells during a service at the Arlesheim Cathedral on 19 July 2016.

R. M. Young Company to Acquire EnviroTech Sensors, Inc.
The R. M. Young (USA) Company has acquired EnviroTech Sensors, Inc. of Columbia, Maryland. Founded in 2001, EnviroTech designs and manufactures sensors used for measuring atmospheric visibility. EnviroTech Sentry visibility sensors are used in more than 30 countries for applications that include fog detection in Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS), in Airport Weather Observation Systems (AWOS) and coastal monitoring systems for waterways and offshore foghorn control.
Tom Young, President of the R. M. Young Company stated, “EnviroTech shares our reputation for producing high performance, reliable instrumentation. The Sentry visibility sensors are an excellent addition to our existing products for surface weather observation.”

instruments. The Sentry sensors are a natural fi t.”
The current Sentry product line includes visibility sensors for road weather or waterway monitoring, tunnel visibility monitoring and ATEX Zone 1 hazardous area monitoring applications.

On 24 June 2016, the InfraTec GmbH (Germany) Infrarot und Messtechnik celebrated its 25th anniversary. A quarter of a century ago exactly to the day, the company received its entry in the Commercial Register. In keeping with the motto “entirely in the family”, the 200 or so employees and their relatives were invited to a summer festival.
The Managing Directors and founder members Dr. Matthias Heinze and Dr. Matthias Krauß opened the festival with a few shared words and thanked the employees for their commitment since the founding of the company. “It never ceases to amaze me when I consider how we started 25 years ago with just a handful of employees in tiny rooms, and we fi nd ourselves today with such a great team at a modern business location”, said Dr. Matthias Heinze, Managing Director of the infrared sensor division. “The passion for innovation and with a view to which benefi t this provides our customers, has always guided our actions”, adds Dr. Matthias Krauß, Managing Director of the infrared measurement division. This is one of the secrets of success that we can rediscover in our own products. After the speech, both managing directors each received a group photo of all the employees - corresponding with InfraTec’s business fi eld of infrared technology as a high resolution thermal image.

Afterwards, at the “Bellevue” Hotel in Dresden, the guests were offered a varied program with many surprises for young and old alike. The highlight of the evening included a laser show as well as a fi rework display over the River Elbe. Live music and a sumptuous buffet provided for a good mood among the guests during the whole time.

As part of its growth in the Asia Pacifi c region UV disinfection specialist Hanovia (UK) has recently appointed Poorna Rajendran as Regional Manager for its new Singapore Representative Offi ce.

Poorna’s main role will initially be to set up the Singapore offi ce, which adds to the offi ces Hanovia has already established in the USA, Germany and China. He will also be responsible for
the business development and growth of Hanovia’s UV disinfection business in South East Asia, Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
“We’re delighted to have Poorna on our team,” comments Hanovia’s Global Marketing Manager Gunvinder Bhogal. “He joins us with excellent experience in the water industry, having worked with Siemens Water Technologies (formerly USFilter) and, more recently, as Asia Business Director of Wallace & Tiernan, where he was responsible for the disinfection business and managed a wide network of channel partners across Asia.”
Poorna has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University in the USA which he undertook under the Singapore Stanford Partnership Program.
