Townswomen's Guild

If you would like to meet friendly women and hear interesting talks why not give us a try?

Broadstone Evening Townswomen’s Guild welcomes new members. We meet once a month on the 4th Tuesday evening (except August) in the War Memorial Hall, Tudor Road.

We start with a short business discussion followed by an invited speaker, then coffee/tea break. We always have a sales table selling books, bric-a-brac, home made jams, etc, and also a jewellery stall and card stall occasionally. There is a competition table with objects brought in that are linked to the current talk and a raffl e.

There are various activities in which to take part between meetings – knit and natter, garden visits, skittles and outings.

The yearly subscription is £30, which includes the TG magazine – delivered to your door. Visitors, £2, can come to two meetings before deciding to join.

There are 700 Guilds in Great Britain, grouped into regional Federations. All the TGs in Dorset form the Dorset Federation and inter-guild activities and competitions are regularly organised and an annual dinner is held at a local golf club.

Our HQ is based in Birmingham and national activities, holidays and competitions are organised from there. Also our campaigns are lead by HQ, who link up with other National Organisations, Charities and Government Departments.

Broadstone TG’s next two meetings’ talks are on Tuesday 25th April, ‘Myths and Legends of Wimborne’ by Malcolm Angel and on Tuesday 23rd May, ‘Eight Generations, One Passion’ by Martin Stewart (the story of Stewarts Garden Centre).

Our website, the-tg.com, has lots of information. Or call 01202 69620/694802. We hope to see you soon.

Petanque Group at Upton Country Park

We are forming a new Petanque group at Upton Country Park to play on a Tuesday and Friday (10am-12pm), or/and Wednesday and Sunday afternoons (1.30-3.30pm).

Everyone welcome. No experience is necessary and boules can be borrowed for the game. An opportunity to meet new people in a lovely location, take part in a sociable (free) game and enjoy some low impact exercise.
