Girlguiding
This summer I will be taking part in a Guiding adventure with a difference.
It started 18 months ago when I attended a series of camps to be selected to represent the South West Region Guides on an International Adventure. The camps were actually great fun and whilst we were all competing for a few spaces, all the activities were enjoyable and all the girls were very friendly. I am glad I didn’t have the job of choosing who got a place.
At the end of the process we were told the trips that were available and I was really excited about the sound of the SOAR event in British Columbia, Canada. A few weeks later I heard that not only had I been selected, but I also had my fi rst choice of Canada.
Since then I have had a further three camps, where the groups have completed many challenges to encourage team building and help build friendships to ensure that we make the most of our adventure.
Over the past 18 months I have been busy fundraising for the trip and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me on this part of the journey.
It has been a brilliant 18 months and incredibly exciting. I have already made so many new friends across the region and am so grateful to Girlguiding for the experience and skills that I am learning along the way. I would thoroughly recommend anyone in Guiding to take advantage of the opportunity to travel that Guiding makes available.
