On 2nd March we celebrated ‘World Book Day’ as a school. The children and staff all came together as a team and put a fantastic effort into a range of wonderful and imaginative costumes.

The children thoroughly enjoyed partaking in the event, exploring favourite books and listening attentively to a range of

stories throughout the day. Each individual class

voted for their favourite costume and prizes were awarded for

fi rst, second and third, but this was no easy decision with such brilliant ideas and

effort made by all. The children were required to bring in their most loved book to school for the day and spent time carrying out book recommendations to

Broadstone Middle School, Age 9-13 one another,

inspiring others to read new novels.

As a school, we strive to encourage children to

develop a love of reading to explore worlds beyond their own imagination whilst

sitting in the classroom. Reading opens up the ability to experience adventures and dreams from mere words on a page. It provides the children with a completely new vocabulary, which in turn they can adapt and apply within their own writing. Reading inspires children in a variety of ways and we as a school recognise the impact and importance of reading and access to a range of texts. In the words of Dr Seuss: "The more that you read, the things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go." We hope that every child is enthused and excited by reading every day.
