Churches Together in Broadstone
Churches Together in Broadstone invites you to come along to any of the services or events we hold. You can be assured of a friendly welcome at any time.
Dear Friends and Neighbours
While Easter provides a welcome break for most of us, it is a time of special importance for the Christian community in Broadstone and around the world.
We remember the way that two thousand years ago Jesus Christ was fi rstly welcomed into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, then arrested, given a mock trial, and put to death. And then on Easter Sunday we celebrate his resurrection from the dead.
Easter is celebrated in different ways in different traditions. Moravian Christians hold sunrise services on Easter Day. In the Ukraine, beautiful decorated Pysanka eggs have long been prepared as symbolic gifts of life. And now, around the world, the symbolism of eggs is used as part of Easter celebrations.
You may look forward to sharing chocolate Easter eggs, especially if you have previously given up chocolate for Lent. Perhaps you will enjoy a Simnel cake – a fruit cake with eleven marzipan balls representing the eleven faithful apostles.
We would love to welcome you to one of our churches to celebrate Easter. Our services of worship will differ and refl ect our own traditions, but we all join together at 10am on Good Friday morning to process from the United Reformed Church on Higher Blandford Road around the centre of Broadstone, with a concluding service at 11am at the Methodist Church on the Broadway.
However you choose to spend Easter, we hope it will be a time of blessing for you and all who you love.
