Broadstone Art Society Spring Exhibition 2017
The Broadstone Art Society was pleased to welcome Councillor Xena Dion, the Mayor of Poole, to offi cially open the Spring exhibition at The Gallery Upstairs in Upton Country Park on Saturday 25th February.
She was welcomed by Eleanor Eadie, Exhibition Organiser, and Dennis Hill, President of the Society. Michael Tomlinson, MP for North Poole and Mid Dorset, also attended. They enjoyed meeting members and guests and seeing the variety of pictures on display.
Penny Wilton, a professional artist based in Poole, chose the winners in the category 'Most Innovative Painting.' In 1st place, and given the Margaret Cleave Award, was Iris McCrow from Poole with her entry 'January Robin.' In 2nd place was Joan Scott from Holt, with 'Woodland Birches' and in 3rd place, Lee James from Wimborne, with her 'Untitled' entry.
The raffl e prize painting by Jeff Bradley was won by Shirley Pearce from Broadstone, whose husband Len was a member of the club for many years.
The winners in the most popular painting – as voted for by the public – were:
1st: Eddie Lowdon, Broadstone, with 'Poole Park in Autumn' (watercolour – pictured)
2nd: Jeff Bradley, Merley, with 'Refl ections' (acrylic) 3rd: Dee Cowell, Wimborne, with 'Lion' (mixed media).
