This is the most diffi cult column I have had to write for the Broadstone Link. It will also be my last.

As from the start of April, I will be retiring from The Clinic. It is nine years since my stroke and unexpected leave

of absence from my beautiful converted Methodist Chapel in Shapwick. I will be taking on the role of full time carer to my lovely 87 year old mum. She has had the misfortune to effectively bring me up twice. On discharge from hospital in 2008 I was little more functional than a new born baby. It is my turn to look after her.

I will be leaving you all in the very capable hands of the therapeutic team in The Clinic. For physical aches and pains, osteopaths Andrew Smythe and Guy Ryder will look after your needs. There are many other practitioners to care for other health problems – mental as well as physical. See our website for a complete overview of what The Clinic has to offer with its natural healthcare. For help, call one of our Practice Managers: Gemma Cataldo or Amanda Mitchell to discuss your condition, or if necessary book in for a free introductory no-obligation chat to meet a practitioner to see if their therapy can help you.

The experience of the last ten years has taught me the value of being as fi t and healthy as possible. You are more likely to survive a health problem, eg. my stroke, or accident, which by defi nition is when you don’t expect it; and if you do, your recovery is helped enormously. The various therapies available in The Clinic will be able to help maximise your health and aid how you deal with the trials and tribulations of life.

A big thanks to all of you who have supported me and The Clinic over the years.
