For the second year in a row, THE NEW BARKER put together a Just One Day Adopt-A-Thon, part- nering with 10 Morgan Auto Group dealerships and 22 rescue groups and shelters across the state. Just One Day is a national move- ment that helps bring awareness to the high number of companion pets that are eutha- nized in shelters across the country. It’s an astonishing number. Every day about 10,000 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens are euthanized in shelters. For Just One Day,

the movement asks animal shelters across the USA to take a pledge not to kill any savable animals on June 11. The move- ment started in 2013 and initially asked euthanasia technicians to “put down their syringes and pick up cameras.” Instead of killing adoptable animals, shelter staff were encouraged to photo- graph and market their animals to the public. The shelters were also encour- aged to stay open for extended hours and ask their communities for help in emptying the shelters in a good way. Just One Day has grown each year as shelters and rescue groups work together in their communities. Each Morgan Auto Group dealer-
