Enjoying her cross-country vacation in Florida with the latest copy of The New Barker dog magazine is Luna, a five-year-old, rescued “All American (aka mutt).” Her uniquely adorable canine recipe includes Saluki, longhair Chihuahua and maybe a dash of American Eskimo. Luna resides in Rancho Cucamonga, California with her family, who is expecting a non- furry, two legged addition.

Harrison is a 10-year-old who has observed the unique bond dogs have with their humans, firsthand. His family owns and operates ASAP Animal Clinic in Brooksville. What happens when a family pet becomes sick and there isn’t enough money in the family budget to pay for care? Anyone familiar with the clinic’s veteri- narian, Dr. Figarola (Dr. Fig to his patients) knows he helps out whenever he can. Still, after Harrison saw a woman making the decision to euthanize her very sick cat because she had limited funds, he was quiet the rest of the day in thought. Later that evening at home, he finally came out of his bedroom and said, “Mom, if that woman had the money she would have tried to save her cat. She was so sad. We have to do something more.” He spent hours on the computer
over the next couple of weeks researching, designing t-shirts to sell to raise money for his new organiza-
tion, Dollars for Dogs. 100 percent of the money he’s raising is being used to help pet owners who have fallen on hard times care for their family members.
