A Diamond In The Rough.

Pasadena

Colt and his human, Kristen Triplett, will be heading to Gray Summit, Missouri in October. He is being recognized at the German Shepherd Dog Nationals as rescue dog of the year. Kristen adopted Colt from Tampa Bay German Shepherd Rescue when he was six months old. He had become too much to handle for an older couple who lived with Colt in a condo. “He was completely out of control, lunging at the end of the leash, going after smaller animals. When my neighbor saw Colt getting out of the car, spinning at the end of his leash, he asked me ‘what is that?’ I told him Colt was ‘a diamond in the rough.’ Today, Colt is the perfect gentleman, thanks to training with STK9, and lots of love and patience from Kristen and her family. He is a very active participant in the Therapy Dog International community.

U Free Spay/Neuter Manatee and Pinellas Counties

There are many reasons why some people don’t spay or neuter their dogs and cats. For some its cultural. For others it’s economical. Ongoing public education is neces- sary to encourage pet parents to have their animals fixed. Still, if it’s the difference between putting food on the table or elective surgery, many people will put it off. Two organizations are trying to help by offering free spay/neuter surgeries to those who do not have the financial means. Manatee County Animal Services received a grant through the Manatee Community Foundation. Rescue Pink is a 501c3 that relies solely on fundraising and donations from the public so that 100% of proceeds go back into the community for animal advocacy programs like free spay/neuter surgeries.
