Merry Christmas from Foss Street The Foss Street traders have got together and will be putting on an extra special Christmassy day on Friday 23rd December to give something back to their customers and to the visitors to Foss Street. You can expect mulled wine, fudge, balloons and mince pies to be given away on the street


plus Christmas carols to be sung and chestnuts to be roasting. There may even be snow! There will be a competition for children to find oddities in the shop windows too. It will be a fantastic atmosphere with the beautiful Foss street lights and bunting, plus this year, a 12ft Xmas tree decorated in a glittering nautical theme with shells and fishy shapes.

Not getting your copy of By The Dart? If you’re lucky enough to get a copy of By The Dart through your front door but you’re finding that recent delivery has been haphazard, then do please let us know. We try hard to get copies to every house in Dartmouth and Kingswear but sometimes errors can happen. If so, please email us details and we’ll try our best to rectify. In the meantime, you should be able to find a copy of the magazine in the foyer at The Flavel.


DARTMOUTH ‘S STEPS! To bring a copy of the magazine direct to the front doors of Dartmouth and


Kingswear requires that our intrepid delivery team walk up alot of steps - actually, thousands of them (we are the fittest delivery team in the South West!). That got us thinking - there are many readers - shall we say, those of mature age - who walk up alot of steps EACH day. So, we are trying out an informal competition - to find the resident (must be over 50 yrs) with the lowest STEP COEFFICIENT - what’s a step coefficient, you ask? Simply, take your age and divide it by the number of steps you regularly walk up to reach your front door. The lower the score, the better. If it’s lower than ‘1’ then even more so. If you think your coefficient is impressive, then email the details to mark@bythedart.co.uk (we may ask for photographic proof!). Now 50 steps for a 50 year old does not trump 80 steps for an 80 year old - so we may award prizes by age group. The winner will get a free M&S voucher and a free subscription to By The Dart - that way, Royal Mail does all the hard work!
