Treatment Review: The Pedicure
“Upon my arrival at the Vital Spa at Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel and Spa, I was greeted by a friendly therapist named Stephanie. After checking in, she invited me around the corner to a beautiful waiting area where I was offered a seat on one of the Spa’s bespoke sofas. Here I was able to relax while I filled out my client consultation card and selected my polish of choice for my pedicure – Jessica’s ‘Merlot’.
“Met again by Stephanie, I was welcomed into a tranquil treatment room where I was requested to remove my boots and roll up my jeans so that I may rest my feet in the warm water bath set up ready for my treatment to begin.
“After doing so, Stephanie set the bath to ‘massage’ and began to rub the Jessica Zenspa Revive Microdermabrasion Foot Scrub onto my feet and ankles in circular motions before they were placed back into the water to soak. This instantly made the treatment feel more pampering – an important point when performing an express treatment. The scrub and soak also helped to remove the dead skin cells from my soles. Next, she removed each foot individually, and once they were thoroughly dried with a towel, I was invited to lay down on the treatment couch where my pedicure continued.
“Here, Stephanie applied Jessica Zenspa Restore Cuticle and Callous Remover on to each toe before she pushed back the cuticles and filed my toenails to my desired length. Next, she spritzed my feet with Jessica Zenspa Energising Ginger Refreshed Foot Spray which provided a cool, fresh sensation, before she began to file away the hard skin which had built up on the balls and heels of my feet. Stephanie sprayed the mist over my feet again as she smoothed the liquid over the skin with her hands. She explained that this step would help remove any dust created during the filing process.
“I was then treated to an application of the Jessica Zenspa Intense Hydrating Heel Repair Crème which was massaged into my skin to help soothe and heal any cracked skin on my soles. This stage really gave me a chance to unwind, as I shut my eyes and enjoyed the calming music in the background.
“To conclude my treatment, my toenails were cleaned of any remaining product before Stephanie applied my polish of choice – a deep red which really flattered my paler skin tone.”

Part of the range, the Intense Hydrating Heel Repair Crème (pictured) contains a complex of vitamin E, Aloe Vera and
Shea butter to drench skin in moisture and rejuvenate dry,
cracked heels. This product is now also available to retail for clients to maintain their treatment at home.
