What factors are important to you when launching a new product range or piece of equipment? “It has to deliver results, safely and effectively; have a good track record; clinical evidence and a good history of support and training from the manufacturer/distributor.”


One of your most popular non- surgical treatments is the NeoGen™. What made you decide to introduce this to the clinic’s menu? “We wanted to add skin resurfacing to our treatment offer. On doing our research, we came across NeoGen™ from Energist. NeoGen™ is the first and only treatment clinically proven to regenerate skin.


“It distinctively alters the structures both at and below the surface (unlike other treatments, which only provide an improvement at the skin’s surface). This creates the right conditions for continuing skin regeneration. During and after treatment, the skin’s outer layers act as a natural protective dressing until your new skin underneath regenerates. We tested the treatment and three months after our initial meeting with Energist, introduced it into our clinic.

The clinic has recently celebrated its 8th anniversary, what are the key achievements behind its accomplishments? “Developing a great team of dedicated professionals who enjoy their job and love working together. Plus, to have a pioneering and successful clinic in lovely East Lancashire offering treatments and services that you might normally expect to find in major cities.”


Looking towards the future, do you have any exciting plans on the horizon? “The non-surgical cosmetic industry is rapidly evolving and we are constantly researching new treatments to check their effectiveness and appeal to our patients. We are highly selective in our approach to technology and responsive to our patients’ needs. This year, we are developing treatments for the growing demand for the removal of blemishes, moles, warts etc.; expanding our thread lift treatments; introducing organic dermal filler and expanding our fat reduction offer.”


Finally, what is the best piece of advice you have been given for running a successful clinic, or being a successful therapist? “Be honest with your patients as to what they might expect from treatments and then to try exceed those expectations.”

I was visiting Discover Laser to try one of their signature offerings – the NeoGen™ Plasma Skin Regeneration treatment – performed by the clinic’s medical director and principal practitioner, Dr. Jose Miguel Montero Garcia. After completing a thorough consultation, Dr. Montero explained more about the treatment, the technology used and the results that can be achieved.


The NeoGen™ works by converting nitrogen gas into plasma energy, the fourth state of matter. The plasma emerges from the system’s hand-piece in controlled pulses and rapid heating of tissue occurs, producing a unique thermal response which distinctively alters the structures both at and below the surface. This action stimulates remodelling of the skin’s architecture, through a complete renewal of the epidermis whilst replacing old damaged collagen with significant amounts of new collagen, creating the ideal condition for continuing skin regeneration.


The clinic embodies a relaxing and private environment.


The technology can be used to tackle a wide spectrum of concerns in order to revitalise and regenerate the skin, including reducing superficial and deep wrinkles, improving skin tone, texture and elasticity, Acne scarring and removing discolouration. It can also be performed at differing levels depending on the individual client and the outcome they wish to achieve. As this was my first time trialling the NeoGen™, Dr. Montero performed a low energy treatment.


After testing the intensity to ensure I was comfortable and removing my make-up, Dr. Montero was ready to begin. As the system’s hand-piece delivered short energy pulses, I could feel a warm to hot sensation with each shot as Dr. Montero worked across the entire facial area. However, this wasn’t remotely uncomfortable and the treatment was completed in approximately 30 minutes.

After applying an SPF for protection, I was expecting my skin to look a little red or flushed immediately after due to the heat. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how instantly refreshed and glowing my complexion looked. The results continued even after I left the clinic, with my skin feeling and looking smoother and rejuvenated in the weeks that followed.
