Glasson Marina Gets Active with the RYA!

Marina Manager, Barnaby Hayward of British Waterways Marinas Ltd (BWML) was presented with a plaque earlier this month to commemorate the launch of the Royal Yachting Association’s (RYA) Active Marina Programme across BWML’s North West region. The RYA say that boat

ownership is all about freedom and having fun. The RYA's Active Marina Programme is designed to help you get more out of life with your boat. The programme encourages and supports increased berth holder activity by partnering with marinas, RYA recognised training centres, berth holder groups and yacht clubs to establish or enhance a programme of training, cruising and social opportunities.

Commented BWML Marina Manager, Barnaby Hayward,

‘The best bit of this is that you get to decide what you want to get involved. With exception of the RYA certified training or a bit of fuel for cruising, there are no extra costs for BWML contract berth holders. ‘We are delighted to have

launched the Active Marina Programme across all of our sites

in the North West, and believe this to be a real benefit for our many customers.’

a boat license fee to the value of £1000, one year’s boat insurance to the value of £300, and a chandlery /diesel voucher worth £200.

Commented BWML’s Head

of Retail, Rod Grant, ‘We are delighted that Mr Schofield has begun his year’s free boating, and hope he enjoys the experience. With more and more people looking to discover life on our inland waterways, the prize was the perfect way to turn the idea into reality.’
