WALCON MARINE SUPPLIES NEW PONTOONS FOR POOLE YACHT CLUB MARINA

W alcon has

supplied Poole Yacht Club with the walkways

and pontoons necessary for the major refurbishment of their yacht haven. This is a substantial facility with

berths for up to 400 boats. The four main piers, the longest of which is 147 metres, are being completely replaced, and fitted with 163 new finger pontoons plus a small number of existing units.

One of the walkways running alongside the inside of the breakwater also received 11 new finger pontoons. All the pontoons are Walcon System 2000 units, fabricated in aluminium and fitted with hardwood decking. Some System 21 equipment has also been supplied for areas where pre- existing pontoons have been used. Walcon has supplied and delivered the new pontoon

equipment, and the club members will undertake the installation work over the course of 2016, with the initial phase now completed. The layout of the marina remains unchanged, enabling the existing piles to be re-used. The members are also removing and disposing of the old unwanted equipment. Works commenced in January 2016 and should be completed by the end of the year.
