TYHA SUMMER VISIT TO SCOTLAND

first treat was the spectacular view from the motorway of the Kelpies the world's largest equine sculptures with each of the two horses’ heads weighing 300 tonnes rising 30 metres from the ground. Shortly after the coach drew up at the famous Falkirk Wheel, the world’s only rotating boatlift, which is used to connect the Forth & Clyde and Union canals in central Scotland. The TYHA group boarded a visitor boat and were treated to the ride of their lives on what is considered to be a 21st century mechanical marvel. The wheel was designed to replace a series of lock gates built in the 19th century - long since


demolished and replaced by housing. The Falkirk Wheel is the showpiece of the Millennium Link project where coast-to-coast navigation of the canals has been re-established for the first time in over 40 years. After a fascinating experience our group enjoyed refreshments before re-joining the coach (where Jon joined them) before the departure for Cameron House Marina.


Nestled in a sheltered bay at the south end of the western shore of Loch Lomond just 30 minutes from Glasgow, Cameron House Marina's stunning location is dominated by Ben Lomond, the most southern of the Munroe’s and 974 meters high.
