New Gold Anchor Scheme Launched
Global Marina Accreditation
The Gold Anchor Scheme has been in existence for over 25 years and is well known as a respected measure of marina quality and a valuable business tool for marina owners and operators. The Scheme was developed by The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) in the UK in 1988 and, subsequently, the Marina Industries Association (MIA) established a similar scheme in Australia. In 2013 the two organisations agreed to work together to create a single global Gold Anchor Scheme. TYHA and MIA are now very pleased to confirm the launch of the new global Gold Anchor Scheme in 2016.
Gold Anchor Scheme Objectives TYHA and MIA have two key objectives for the new Scheme. Firstly to grow the number of boat owners and boat users that use Gold Anchor accreditation in their selection of marinas and secondly to increase the number of marinas that benefit from Gold Anchor accreditation as a business development tool.
Gold Anchor Scheme Aims The new Gold Anchor Scheme continues to encourage improving standards in infrastructure, operations and customer service at
participating marinas; this is achieved by a voluntary process of self-audit, external audit, the provision of expert advice and customer feedback. Both TYHA and the MIA are committed to ensuring that boating customers are offered a consistent, high quality experience in marinas around the world.
The Scheme provides a set of global performance standards to which all marinas can aim, contributing to continual business improvement whilst assisting marinas to position and
differentiate themselves in the market place. It is also designed to help customers in their evaluation and selection of marinas through benchmarking the marina against others locally, nationally and worldwide, in a similar way the hotel star rating system.
Fundamental to the Scheme is the expert assessment process which provides a business ‘health check’ to marina operators to identify priority areas for improvement. This enables management and staff to act swiftly for measureable results. Gold Anchor participation
