PREMIER MARINAS

TEAMS UP WITH SOUTH DEVON COLLEGE FOR NEW APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME

Premier Marinas has joined forces with South Devon College to offer a Marina and Boatyard apprenticeship, as part of an initiative to train new entrants to the marina sector. Affiliated with the British

Marine Federation, the apprenticeship is aimed at those who are currently working in marinas and boatyards. Assessed through completion of a Training

Record Book, students will complete core units in everything from customer service and First Aid right through to marina operations; safely moving and storing boats in the marina and providing fuel. Moreover, the apprentices will work full time for a period of two years to complete the apprenticeship. The new qualification, regulated

by South Devon College's Marine Academy, will form part of the MSA

Level 2 Diploma in Maritime studies, which is offered by South Devon College. Premier Marinas has opened

recruitment for four apprentice placements at its Brighton, Chichester and Port Solent marinas. As an operator of nine first-class marinas its main focus is on offering students the working environment to acquire the valuable practical skills needed to pursue a career in the marine industry.

Paul Singer, Training Officer of the Marine Apprenticeships at South Devon College said: "The Marina and Boatyard apprenticeship is an exciting new apprenticeship developed by the marine industry in close collaboration with the industry association, British Marine. We are delighted that Premier Marinas have chosen to launch this new apprenticeship across three of their marina sites."

Premier Marinas HR Manager, Tracey Jefkins added: “We’re looking forward to working with South Devon College's Marine Academy and offering students who wish to pursue a career in boatyard operations, the environment to develop the skills wanted by employers in the marine industry”.
