manager I am continually reminded of how important the entire staff team are and the number of unsung heroes and heroines there are behind the scenes. I recently visited Largs Yacht Haven, a 730 berth full service marina in Scotland (featured on the front cover) that is 5 Gold Anchor accredited. Whilst being shown around by the manager Carolyn Elder we entered the workshop and were introduced to the Yard Manager Kevin who was in the final stages of fabricating an impressive new security camera tower. In the tour of the marina that followed Kevin’s name came up time and time again in association with innovative engineering solutions to improving the efficiency of the marina in many different operational areas. His ability to spot opportunities and look at challenges from a ‘3D’ perspective has undoubtedly provided significant benefit to the business and to their customers.

GJW Insurance to continue Sponsorship of MOTY Awards

I am very pleased to confirm that GJW Insurance have agreed to continue their sponsorship of Marina of the Year for a further 3 years. The awards are going from strength to strength with an ever growing number of nominations for the vast majority of Gold Anchor marinas. In addition to providing sponsorship funding GJW continue to provide an excellent level of support to TYHA to keep the resources and communications fresh. My sincere thanks to all at GJW. Nominations close on the 30th November so there is still plenty of time to encourage your customers to vote for your marina by promoting www.marinaawards.com to them. It’s been a very busy period

LYH Yard Manager – Kevin

Kevin is one of a very impressive staff team at Largs Yacht Haven and I look forward to encountering many more marina professionals like Kevin during future visits to TYHA member marinas.
