also provides marina staff and investors with a tangible measure, reward and recognition for their efforts.
Changes to the Scheme The new Scheme builds upon the values of the two schemes it replaces and therefore marinas who are currently accredited by the TYHA or MIA schemes will not experience significant changes to the areas assessed. The new Scheme however provides clearer and more detailed assessment criteria and a more transparent scoring system to ensure consistency in award level.
5 Gold Anchor Platinum For marinas catering for a luxury demographic (such as the superyacht sector) there is a new recognition called 5 Gold Anchor Platinum which will recognise the small number of marinas worldwide that provide the very highest levels of customer service and infrastructure.
Gold Anchor awards up to 5 Gold Anchor will be issued by the relevant TYHA or MIA Gold Anchor Standards Panel. 5 Gold Anchor Platinum awards will be agreed and issued jointly by the TYHA and MIA standards panels.
Platinum MARINA
Gold Anchor Marina Newcomers to Gold Anchor will have a more accessible entry into the Scheme through a low cost self-assessment route which naturally leads into the other levels of the Scheme. Marinas self-assessing will be known as a Gold Anchor Marina.
All marinas recognised under the new Scheme will benefit from being part of a single, global accreditation system resourced through the partnership between TYHA and MIA. This partnership will ensure worldwide growth in the number of Gold Anchor accredited marinas, increase the value of being accredited and grow boater awareness of Gold Anchor. During the
implementation of the new Scheme we will introduce new resources to grow the value of participation and the awareness by the boating community.
Changeover to the new Gold Anchor Scheme As this is a new scheme and not a re-branding exercise current Gold Anchor accredited marinas will be required to be assessed under the new criteria before they are able to use the new brand. Therefore the current and new Scheme will run parallel until all Gold Anchor marinas have been assessed under the new Scheme. It is anticipated that all existing Gold Anchor accredited marinas will have changed over by the end of 2019.
All marinas that are due for re-accreditation will be contacted before the end of their 3 year accreditation period by an assessor who will arrange to conduct the assessment using the new Gold Anchor Scheme.
Global Marina Accreditation
Marinas that are interested in becoming Gold Anchor accredited should contact Libby Gordon (
lgordon@britishmarine.co.uk) who will be pleased to provide full information.
