The newly formed sports commission representing Montgomery County, PA
The Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board (VFTCB) gathered 100 rep- resentatives from the hospitality industry in Montgomery County, PA at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks in February 2016 for the announcement of its newly formed sports commission, Valley Forge Sports.
This new initiative aims to attract lucrative sports meetings and events busi- ness to the region, and its announcement was held in conjunction with move-in day at the expo center for the USA Weightlifting National Junior Championships and Senior Trials, an Olympic qualifying event booked by Valley Forge Sports that brought more than 400 top athletes and their fami- lies from throughout the nation to Montgomery County with the expectation of generating 880 room nights for area hotels and resulting in more than $1.7 million in economic impact for the region.
The new Valley Forge Sports commission is made up of 15 members, and includes professionals drawn from the region’s sporting venues and busi- nesses as well as other hospitality industry stakeholders, such as the Montgomery County Planning Commission and the Philadelphia Sports Congress.
