Getting at the heart of the EU referendum

ast year, it was a fact-finding trip to the House of Commons – now, with an in-out referendum on the UK’s EU membership
due by the end of 2017, members of Future Faces will be finding out the mood for themselves when they visit the European Parliament in the coming months. The trip is being organised just as a survey by
consultants Deloitte suggests that business support for EU membership has narrowed from 74 per cent to 62 per cent. Deloitte surveyed 137 chief financial officers of FTSE 350 and other large private companies for their views – and 28 per cent said their decision depended on the outcome of the regeneration of UK membership.

However, the majority of those questioned still say that the UK is better off in the EU. Future Faces manager Kate Evans said: “The EU
referendum is a hot topic at the moment – and will become even more so in the run-up to the vote. So it will be fascinating to hear from some leading figures ahead of the referendum and to gain an insight into the workings of the EU.” Places for the visit – delegates fly out on 6
April and return the following day – are limited and will be allocated on a “first come, first served” basis.
