contract to administer the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme for the region which aims to provide budding business leaders with key overseas guidance and knowledge. Financed by the European Union, Erasmus
for Young Entrepreneurs is an exchange programme for entrepreneurs which offers candidates the chance to work alongside an experienced counterpart in another EU country and strengthen the skills needed to develop businesses. The scheme encourages host organisations
to come forward who will share experiences with new entrepreneurs and work with them at their own headquarters, developing international contacts and knowhow. Amerdeep Mangat, project manager for the scheme based at the Chamber, said: “We are

very pleased to have received confirmation that the contract has been awarded again. the programme will start on 1 February and run to 31 January 2018.
“This is another tool in the Chamber’s
arsenal to bring jobs to the West Midlands. A key aspect of this is that the Chamber is best placed to deliver the project.” Young entrepreneurs receive grants under
the project and there is no charge to the companies involved. They also receive funds which help cover their living costs. The exchange lasts for between one and six months. Amerdeep added: “They will learn skills and
techniques to help further develop their businesses. The scheme is is aimed at entrepreneurs looking to start a new business or people who have a business which is less than three years old. “This is very good news for local people who
want to start a business as Birmingham is one of the top areas in the UK for promoting new ventures. “Most new businesses fail in the first year
and this enables people to learn from someone who has a better grasp of the markets. They come back with a wealth of knowledge to further develop their own businesses.”
