❤ LOVE LOCAL ❤ ST.KEW DIRECT

The Knight family, which owns and runs St Kew Direct, are third generation dairymen. When they found some original biscuit reci- pes in the attic in the 1970s, they decided to make some and started to sell them on the dairy run.

Since then the business

has grown considerably, and while they still don’t sell their products in supermar- kets, they do now have a range of 19 types of biscuit, all hand baked. While the biscuits are traditional (think clotted cream shortbread and their original recipe biscuits), the packaging certainly isn’t. These deliciously short biscuits come packed in innovative card- board cartons that are beautifully decorated and would make a perfect gift. All 19 fl avours are available to order online at www.stkewdirect.co.uk

The Richards family has been farming in and around Hayle since the early 1900s. Back then they reared beef, milked cows and grew vegetables for both local and wholesale markets. The farm is located in beautiful West Cornwall, which is perfectly suited to growing fruits and vegetables.

They opened the farm shop in 2004 as another way to sell

their own produce. The shop has been a great success and provides a valuable way for the Richards family to get to know their customers. It also helps them to support other local family farms as they can sell their produce too. Since opening the shop, the Richards’ have widely expanded

the range of produce that they grow themselves due to high demand. As well as fruit and veg, the Richards of Cornwall farm shop is well known for its fabulous crop of daffodils, which are used as both cut fl owers and bulbs. Find out more at www.richardsofcornwall.co.uk.
