Putting a name to a face…
Last month we carried an article from Villaset. Again, it’s always great to put names to faces, so here’s a photo of Cath from Villaset. Now you may be thinking that
you’ve seen the photo before in these pages and you’d be right! It’s the same picture we featured in November with Claire Johnstone of DKV insurance.
Cath and Claire (along with Lionel) all work closely together from the Villaset offices just outside Moraira. Cath and Lionel are quite unique in the world of estate agency as they’ve had many years of experience and perhaps more importantly, care for their clients well after they’ve moved home.
So if you’re thinking about moving, or need to attend to your insurance needs, pop along to Villaset’s Offices, right next door to David’s Fish and Chips on the Moraira-Calpe Coast Road. And of course, now you’ll recognise both Cath and Claire, be sure to say hi! See Villaset’s main advert on page 52.
Cancer Care Javea presented a cheque for 1,000€ to Macmillan Nurses.
This money was raised from various fundraising events and a coffee morning held for Macmillan Nurses last September and presented recently at the Cancer Care Javea AGM. There is a lot in the pipeline for this year so keep an eye on press for future updates.
The Stepping-Stones
The Stepping-Stones is the name of the Sunday School attached to La Siesta Evangelical Church under the leadership of Gill Gray. Gill was a formerly a school-teacher in the U.K. The Sunday School meet on the 2nd and 4th Sunday at 11am in the church and then proceed to the Round House in the church grounds.
The photographs show the children ready to perform their Nativity play in December and a little later in the New Year receiving well-earned thank-you gift to commemorate a fine performance.
Gill and Stepping-Stones will ensure children of all ages will receive a warm welcome, just turn up any 2nd or 4th Sunday at 11 o’clock at the church in La Siesta urbanisation.
Did you have a good start to 2015?
Were you able to spend time over Christmas with your family and/or those that you hold dear? We hope that you did, and that you are looking forward to what 2015 may bring.
However, for many, often through no fault of their own, they are facing the year with trepidation, without immediate hope or expectation of improving their lives or those of their family. Bereavement, loss of employment or income, a deterioration in health, or an inability to meet financial commitments are often the main reasons why people are forced to seek support from one or other of the local charitable organisations, whether it be a food bank, a charity shop, or a support group offering a 24 hour telephone helpline.
Over the last few years, requests for assistance have increased, but with many ex-pats returning to the UK, the number of volunteers offering their time has not grown in proportion to demand. Consequently, many charity groups are finding it difficult to maintain the services and assistance that they have traditionally provided.
Can you help? Do you have some spare time that you can commit to helping others who may be less fortunate? Although mostly unpaid, the work is often fun as well as very rewarding, and usually undertaken with a group of dedicated like minded people. Some training may be necessary, but this is often ‘on the job’.
This appeal is being made by the ‘Listeners’, (
www.listenersspain.com), who work in association with many other local charity groups. They offer a 24 hour telephone Helpline, 965 99 66 78 and support ‘Stepping Stones...taking one step at a time’, a bereavement/loss group that meets monthly in Benidoleig. For more information on how you can help and experience the satisfaction and reward of helping others, contact your charity of choice direct, or email
info@listenersspain.com.
