Female Focus


Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir: The Choir is rehearsing for its busy summer season. Sunday 15th February, The Choir is involved in a Choir Competition at Teulada, and this is followed by an appearance at a Choir Festival at Alfas del Pi on Friday 27th February. All potential new singers are welcome to join at the Bar Meditteraneo Teulada between 6-8pm any Tuesday or ring Howard on 669 792 291.


Welcome to the Stage Diary, a column that since it was first launched in 2007, has become a major central point of reference to amdram on the Costa Blanca. Not only does it act as a guide to what’s on in all the regions, but is also an important on-line introduction to potential expat’s researching community life in Spain. It also acts as a planning guide to assist groups avoid unnecessary clashes of production dates.


Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society: The group are in the final weeks of rehearsal for their upcoming concert production of The Gondoliers at La Senieta, Moraira on Thursday 26th March and in the Salon Blau, Calpe on Friday 27th March. Performances start at 8pm and will be accompanied as always by live music. Tickets 10€ can be

Campoverde Theatre Group: Another success for this popular group when they performed their supper show, ‘Ello, ‘Ello, It’s Christmas to great praise and applause. The group will meet again on Monday 9th February at the Community Centre, Blue Lagoon. The group welcome new members, especially men, singers and soloists for their next production, Let Us Entertain You. For more information contact Jan on 966 189 741.


Cantabile Female Voice Choir: The choir are preparing for two spring concerts, 18th April, La Siesta Church, Torrevieja, performing Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem and 24th May a further Spring concert at Campoverde Church. The choir

Careline Theatre: It might not have been your idea of a typical panto but Careline’s 2015 production of Alice in Wonderland was a smash hit. Costa Barber Singer s: Rehearsals have begun for the new season for the CB Singers at their regular haunt, The Top 10 Tapes Bar in Benissa, every Thursday at 8pm. Footlights Theatre Group: Rehearsals for Footlights production of the comedy Stepping Out are now well under way. The


play, about a tap dancing class, will be performed in April in Calpe and Alfaz del Pi. Footlights November 2015 show will be the Broadway musical Annie. The group are very keen to recruit additional performers. They meet on Thursday evenings in Calpe; contact the Secretary on 965 870 198.


Jávea Players: The next production at the Javea Players’ Studio Theatre is Penny Grant’s production of Lilies on the Land. This lively play, laced with humour, warmth and love, plays tribute to the enormous war effort of the Women’s Land Army. Play dates are Monday 6th April to Saturday 11th April. Curtain-up 8pm. Melody Makers International: MMI together with the Cantemos Youth Choir have just performed their latest concert Music of the Night at the Orihuela Costa Resort to rave reviews. Networks Theatre: Last Hope. 16 years old Nate has been diagnosed with leukaemia and decides to face it with courage and hope with the main goal of helping his friends in their personal lives.
