Going Out - Page 47 New Season Starts

Things are well underway with the production of Oklahoma in June, but you can still come along and join us, as we will always find places for people who want to join our chorus, particularly men!

So if you want to give it a go, be part of a successful team and have some fun come along to rehearsals at

Casa Ventura, San Luis on a Wednesday between 3.30pm and 6.30pm, or on Sundays between 11am and 2.30pm.

Looking ahead, at the recent AGM, Studio 32 were able to announce that the pantomime for 2015 will be Dick Whittington, written by the tlc writing team from London, who enjoyed so much success with Cinderella in 2014. Back To The Musicals

The Benissa based show group “Sounds Familiar” are returning to their favourite style of show in February with “Back To The Musicals” at the Casa de Cultura in Calpe on Thursday 26th February, and the Auditori Municipal in Ondara on Friday 6th March.

The show features songs and routines from a wide range of musicals from classics such as Carousel, Me and My Girl and Chicago through to more modern favourites like Les Miserables, Miss Saigon and Starlight Express. The group barely had a chance to catch their breath after their colourful and fun Disney show in the summer, before they launched into rehearsals for this show.

The music for the show has been a challenge along with the routines that go with them. In addition, this production has more costume in it than the Disney show which means that changes between numbers is almost as carefully choreographed as the dancing.

Back To The Musicals also marks a milestone for the Producer /Musical Director Philip Ashley, as this will be his 100th stage production.

Both shows start at 8pm with the doors opening at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at

12 Euros and are available from Margaret & Elena’s Book & Card shop, Galerias Mar Azul, c/Gabriel Miro, Calpe and by phone on 96 558 1483, or online at www.philipashley.com/boxoffice.php.

Anyone who has already purchased tickets for this show, please note the change of date for the Calpe performance, which is now Thursday 26th February.

Espai La Senieta, Avda De Madrid, Moraira on 28th February at 8pm. Following their sell out concert for Teulada Moraira Lions Club last year - and the rave reviews which it drew from the audience - TM Lions are delighted to announce another evening of great music from Abba Elite, one of the foremost ABBA tribute bands which, although based on the Costa Blanca, tours throughout Spain, UK & Ireland and the rest of Europe.

Teulada Moraira Lions Club present: Abba Elite in concert

Thankfully, gone are the days when it wasn’t “cool” to admit to being a fan and your favourite ABBA album was kept out of sight at the back of your record collection. Most of us have been fans from the outset and now it’s ok to be loud and proud about it. ABBA’s songs have always been instantly recognisable and most of us know (most of) the words to most of their hits - the likes of “Fernando”, “Mama Mia”, “Money, Money, Money”, “Dancing Queen” and, of course, “Waterloo”; the song that began it all when Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad won the Eurovision Song Contest way back in 1974 and the enduring musical legend that is ABBA was born.

Tickets are priced at just 15€ so please book early for this one by contacting TM Lions’ Event Coordinator, by telephone on 966 491 917 or email colinlilley1424@gmail.com, to avoid disappointment.

N.B. All proceeds from this concert will be donated to the appeal by TM Lions parent organisation, Lions Clubs International Foundation, for funds to build schools and orphanages to educate and provide shelter for children in West Africa whose young lives have been devastated by the Ebola pandemic.
