Shockwave treatment and laser light therapy helping reduce pain and improve movement.
As a natural part of the ageing process our joints increasingly lose their ability to work as they should. In addition, if we have experienced trauma to any part of our body, this damage (for example, a fall or an accident) if left untreated, can show up as a weakness and become aggravated many years later in life.
Dr Hans Christian Madsen DC helps many people at his Benijofar Chiropractic Clinic. A graduate of Palmer College in United States, the fountainhead of chiropractic, he has been in practise for over 33 years. He has over 13 years’ experience using Shockwave therapy and over 22 years’ experience with lasers. He treats patients with his own specific laser systems, hand-built with pin- point technology.
Dr Madsen also treats patients with chiropractic care for those whose spine is able to benefit from this treatment, but sometimes it is necessary for him to refer patients for x-rays first, so he can analyse their condition and accurately target the affected area, for a more effective result.
Shockwave Treatment for Osteoarthritis Over time, calcification can build up affecting the joints of the shoulders, hips and, knees. Shockwave therapy removes this calcification which helps to release trapped nerves, resulting in more movement and less pain.
Shockwave is waves of sound, which, in a few seconds, ‘blasts away’ the particles of calcification. These particles are then carried away in the bloodstream. Patients are then treated with laser therapy, which stimulates blood flow and helps to regenerate new cell growth and faster healing.
Laser therapy Laser treatment has been particularly helpful in the treatment of persistent conditions including chronic back pain, neck pain and other joint and muscle pains. It is effective for sports injuries, sprained ligaments and cartilage, ankle sprains, Achilles tendon, heel spur and Plantar Fasciitis, resulting from lower back or hip problems. It is safe, non invasive, easily applied, and with no negative side effects.
Some of the therapeutic benefits include anti-inflammatory; the laser light helps to reduce swelling, leading to decreased pain, less stiffness and a faster return to normal joint and muscle action.
