Changing Rooms!
We all love to see those programmes on the television where a room is made over in a ridiculously short space of time, and the looks on the home owners face when they accompany the presenter for the fi nal reveal.
It seems gone are the days of Laurence Llewelyn Bowen and his controversial colour schemes where tears were the call of the day, and these have been replaced by much more sympathetic schemes where the client’s needs are actually listened to! Well life can be pretty much the same for us at Lotus Homestyling when our projects involve an exciting complete room makeover. In the coming months I’ll be sharing an insight into some of our projects to show you how easily you can transform your rooms from drab to fab with the simple use of the right choice of fabrics, soft furnishings, layout and colour. Our fi rst is a lovely project to make a new sun room extension feel like part of the garden…a place to kick back with the doors wide open in the summer, or curl up with a good book in the warm bask of the sun on a cold winters day. When we first visited this newly glassed-in terrace, it was a harsh blank canvas of glass and cream tiled fl oor. Our client wanted to create a soft atmosphere and was a great lover of English vintage style fabric. We chose a combination of cream furniture and cream sheers with a damask printed design, to create a relaxing atmosphere, whilst an accent colour of a beautiful soft green brought the colours of the garden into the room. The curtains were to remain closed and so their design had to allow light to fl ood through. A devore damask design sheer was chosen, and this was pinch pleated to create even folds in the fabric. The day bed was covered in a quilted fi tted throw and a combination of coordinating cream and green cushions completed the scheme.
