• Sunday 16th November, Concert in the Cathedral. The Edinburgh Quartet, whose 2nd violinist is local musician Gordon Bragg, will play string quartets by Haydn, Debussy and Schumann. The concert starts at 3pm and tickets are available at the door or in advance from Smallprint, Beech Rd., or at the door: Adult £9 Child/Student/Unemployed £2


• Sunday 16th November, Dunblane Chamber Orchestra will be staging its Autumn concert in Dunblane High School at 7pm. Works performed will include Mozart’s Gmajor Flute Concerto (soloist Lynne Bulmer of Edinburgh), Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, as well as the lovely string piece by Arensky - Variations on a theme of Tchaikovsky. Do come along and support your local orchestra!





Tuesday 18th November Stravinsky’s “A Soldier’s Tale” at The Rural Hall, Northlea, Doune, at 8.30pm. Performed by an ensemble of players from the BBC SSO, conducted by Martyn Brabbins & narrated by Andrew Barratt. £10 (to include a glass of wine) & Students/school children £5. • Wednesday 19th November ,Dunblane Accordion & Fiddle Club, in the Victoria Hall Dunblane at 7-30pm. The guests will be the “ Marian Anderson Band “ All players, any instrument, warmly welcome. Please note there will be no December meeting.

Saturday 22nd November, Dunblane Cathedral Guild’s annual Coffee Morning will be held on, in the Cathedral hall, at 10.00am. There will be the usual stalls – baking, books and bric-a-brac. Donations for the stalls may be given to any committee member.


Saturday 22nd November, Braeport Pre-School committee Annual Christmas Fair. 12-4. Fun & games for all, Santa, gift stalls. Children are free and adults are £2.50 ( this entitles you to a ticket for a free Tea/ Coffee & mince pie)


• Sunday 23rd November, The Rosenethe Singers will give a concert at 7.30pm in Dunblane Cathedral. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the choir, when they will perform Elgar’s ‘The Dream of Gerontius’. The soloists will be Austin Gunn (tenor), Graeme Danby (bass) and Valerie Reid (soprano) and the singers will be accompanied by the Scottish Bach Players. The concert will be directed by Matthew Beetschen. Tickets £15 (£12 concessions) are available from Smallprint, Dunblane or Strathallan Pharmacy, Bridge of Allan or may be ordered via the website www.rosenethesingers.co.uk


• Monday 24th November, Dunblane Cathedral Guild will be holding a Scottish night, at 7.30pm, in the hall. A tour of Scotland will celebrate Scotland’s saints and include a bit of history. There will be readings, songs and hymns, all illustrated by beautiful views of Scotland. Anyone who would enjoy an evening with a difference is welcome to join us.

Friday 28th November, Stirling University. The Beaconhurst Duathlon (running and cycling race) for youngsters aged 8 and above takes place at Stirling University from 9am. For more information contact the school on 01786 832146 - www.beaconhurst.com


Saturday 29th November, PTA Christmas Fayre at Beaconhurst School. All are welcome to come along and enjoy the festive fun with a variety of stalls selling Christmas gifts plus a Santa’s Grotto and games for children. The Fayre is open to the local community as well as Beaconhurst parents, teachers and pupils. 11am-2pm. www.beaconhurst.com


• ADVANCE NOTICE: Saturday 27th December, Victoria Hall’s Family Festive Ceilidh will be held in the Hall on at 7.30 p.m. Music will be provided by Jack Delaney’s Band and John Lord is running our Bar. All proceeds from the Bar go into Hall funds so please make good use of it. Tickets will be available from Smallprint, 3 Beech Road (telephone 824376) from Friday 14th November at a cost of £8 each.
