Exhibition At Stirling University To Preview Artlink Central’s Art Off The Rock
Well known Stirling charity, Artlink Central, is delighted to announce it’s 9th biennial fundraising art auction, Art Off The Rock, to be held on Sunday 2nd November, 6-9pm at the University of Stirling’s Pathfoot
Building. This year’s event will include work donated by renowned Scottish artists: Kate Downie, Barbara Rae, Catriona Campbell,
Jacqueline Marr, Lesley Anne Derks and many others of note.
For the fi rst time this year the auction works will be exhibited before the event at the Pathfoot Building, University of Stirling. The exhibition runs until Sunday 2 November, 11am – 3pm, giving people a chance to peruse the works prior to the gala auction. Silent bids can be accepted by Artlink prior to the auction and arrangements can be made for proxy bidding on the night. Contact Artlink Central for details.
A highlight of this year’s auction is a piece by renowned Dunblane Goldsmith and long-term Artlink supporter, Graham Stewart. The exquisite Honeycomb Candleholder, in sterling silver and parcel gilt, features golden bees climbing the side of the gilt honeycomb. The piece is in such demand that Stewart has had to create a waiting list of interested customers.
Another delightful piece up for grabs on the night is by renowned children’s illustrator, Emily Gravett.
Gravett, who has illustrated such children’s
classics as Blue Chameleon, Wolves and Cave Babies (her collaboration with Artlink Central’s Patron Julia Donaldson) has donated Tug of War, a beautiful illustration of a hedgehog in a tug of war with bugs, which would delight children and adults alike. Julia Donaldson, Artlink’s Patron, will be at Art Off The Rock to signing copies of her books.
The event also includes the ever-popular Anonymous Postcard Sale featuring work by hundreds of artists. Grab a small work by a big-name artist, or just pick up a lovely unique artwork at the bargain price of just £30. There really is something for every taste and every budget on off er at Art Off The
Rock...and all in support of a great cause.
All the work on sale is donated by the hundreds of artists who support the event and all funds raised go towards the delivery of innovative arts programs for adults and children who experience learning disabilities, mental illness, ill health or disadvantage.
Artlink Central’s Director, Kevin Harrison, says ‘Art Off The Rock is a great charity event and the funds raised are so very important to our ongoing work. We are delighted and humbled every two years when some of Scotland’s fi nest artists support our cause by donating work. We are so grateful to them and to our long-term supporters, the arts community, the public and collectors who come out on the night to share in the fun and help make the event such a success.’
Art Off The Rock is proudly supported by Smith and Williamson, Bell Ingram, United Auctions, University of Stirling, Alison Green Books and Macmillan Children’s Books.
