Don’t panic as the party season approaches...

by Stewart @ Stewart Robertson Fitness

How can it be coming up to that time of year already?

The December ‘little black dress’

party season is a time of year you really want to look your best. It’s often as big a priority to look good as the ‘summer beach body’ season – but don’t worry, you’re not too late.

Exercising in an intelligent way, coupled with a good clean and healthy diet, can yield amazing results in a short period of time.

There is no such thing as spot fat burning - ie: we can’t just lose weight from our thighs without exercising the body as a whole - but if we focus on the body as a whole we’ll ‘tone up’ the desired areas by default.

e.g. leg exercises such as squats and lunges not only target legs and bottoms, but also maximise calories burned by bringing multiple moves).

muscles into play (compound

As with all exercises, it’s really important not to try to progress too fast. As well as increasing the chance of injury you’ll improve quicker by concentrating on quality over quantity. I will often prefer to start with body weight moves before adding any weight with clients.

From the diet side of things there is a plethora of information out there – if you currently use a Personal Trainer ask for some guidelines and inspiration. We’re not nutritionists but we can off er nutritional advice as part of an exercise programme – (or email me at stewart@ stewartrobertsonfi tness.co.uk)

Lastly, a tiny bit of self-promotion. Stewart Robertson Fitness is launching our Four Week Fat-Burning Formula in January and

the chance for you to take part in the fi rst one FREE! (see page 25)
