Going Out - Page 48 ZUMBATHON 2014! Woo-hoo!
The minutes are whooshing by to the hottest dance fitness fiesta of the summer! So get on down and shake your thang with us from 10.30am to 13.30pm on Sunday 14th September, right next to the glorious summer sea in Moraira.
With the backdrop of the castle and the blue sky, the vivid colours of the dancers and the HOTTEST Latin and international sounds (including Salsa, Merengue, Reggaeton, Samba, Bachata, Bollywood Bhangra, Western, Quebradita, Belly dancing, Hip hop, Pop, Swing and Cumbia amongst many, many others), there’s something for everyone! Along with face painting for the kids, gorgeous chill out bars overlooking the party, the best raffle on the Med (check my FB and website for details of prizes), and we have the tastiest recipe for a spectacular event! Do not miss it! No need to know what you’re doing, with 20 of the best presenters from throughout Spain and the UK coming to share their talents with us, you just get up and follow what’s happening on stage! Do as many or as few dances as you like, stop, cheer others on, have a long, cool drink, then join in again when you’re ready. The important thing is to be there
as it’s all in aid of a fabulous cause! Once again, Kimberley Harrison of Zumba Costa Blanca & her crew are raising money for the new Teulada- Moraira- Benissa dog shelter AKIRA.
www.akira-animals.com. With our fabulous main sponsors Satari’s Restaurant & Total Fm 96.5, and Hamiltons of London- Moraira branch & Fotos España success is guaranteed. Let’s see if together we can break our 2500€ high from last year! The project for the shelter is now awaiting approval from Benissa, then Valencia, once received, building will begin in earnest, in the meantime, they’re not resting on their laurels, in 2013 they rescued 107 dogs and rehomed 86, this year to date they have already rescued 85 dogs and rehomed 63! An amazing achievement without any premises! With the shelter they will be able to help far more dogs. So no excuses, please come and join in
the fun, even if you really can’t dance, whoops and cheers (and a few Euros in the buckets) while you’re having a drink counts too. Everyone is welcome to join in the raffle of course! Tickets are 10 Euros and can be purchased at the AKIRA shop in Moraira, in all Zumba Costa Blanca classes (for timetable- locations see
www.zumbacostablanca.com) or quite simply, right there on the day. Registration will be open from 10am. So see you there guys! Come join the party!

4th International Charities Fair
Sunday September 28th, El Cisne Centre N332 Benidorm. Pamela Dawson Tasker of Asociación Española contra el Cáncer, The Royal British Legion in Spain and Paula Chinchilla of LIFECOACH with the collaboration of Steve Ashley, founder of Samaritans in Spain, would like to invite you to take part in the International Charity Fair 2014.
We have this support from The British Consul in Alicante; “Now in its fourth year, the International Charities Fair brings together charities who work together to help the most vulnerable in our community. It is a great opportunity to support your favourite charity and even consider getting involved in volunteer work. Have a great day out and I look forward to seeing you there!” We will hold the Fair in the annexe to the El Cisne Rastro as we did in past years but with many changes. • Opening ceremony performed by a well-known personality • More participants: 50 -60 stalls • A stage with live and recorded music • Microphone access for participants to introduce and advertise their activities The objective of this event is to bring together representatives of the charities and organisations who work on the Costa Blanca to help residents of all nationalities in time of need, or make contact with each other, to meet the public and also help them to raise money for their own funds. As all of you are aware from your own experience each organisation encounters from time to time cases which need the assistance of more than one group.
Some associations give help in the first instance, others can continue for as long as needed, others are very specialised, some offer help in several languages and we must not forget the animal charities who help with the care or re-homing of the pets of sick people. Our International Charities Fair is the opportunity to become aware, or more aware, of other organisations that can be called upon for back-up. For the general public it is the chance to know where help can be found when it is needed, to talk to volunteers and to collect printed information for future use. As always we have the support of widely heard radio stations and the local international Press to ensure an excellent turn out of public plus posters and fliers that advertise those taking part and we have enlisted the assistance of the European Consuls to involve more international care organisations and to reach more of the resident public of all nationalities. Rastro and Antiques Centre El Cisne, offers many facilities and has proved to be a successful choice of venue. It is very central, on the N332, with excellent parking and is very popular with the resident population and also holiday
makers providing refreshments and live music as well as the weekly rastros and the antiques centre. Sunday 28th coincides with a regular and extremely busy El Cisne market and therefore regular stall holders will take places adjoining the area allotted to our Fair - this further ensures good public participation. Selected commercial interests have been invited to take including clinics, medical aid suppliers and domestic nursing agencies. Any association may use the occasion to raise money for their chosen charity. Your own stand at the Fair can be used to sell new or second hand goods for your own funds or simply for publicity purposes. The cost to associations is just 10 Euros this is a token charge to cover the minimal overheads. The directors of El Cisne offer the area and the facilities free of charge. Please contact Steve or Pam as soon as possible to book your space or for more information.
