Going Out - Page 47 Rivingtons - a hidden pleasure by M.B.
Rivingtons Cafe Bar & Restaurant is situated in La Marina Village, on Urbanisation Costa Bella. You will find this hidden beauty set beside the pine forest that leads to the sandy beach of Playa del Rebollo and adjacent to La Marina International Camping. And this is how I discovered Rivingtons....
We were enjoying a weekend break at the campsite with friends back in June, when the men of our group decided to take a little wander to find a venue to eat that evening. On their return (after sampling a few drinks at the nearby drinking establishments), they informed us to get our glad rags on as they had booked a table at an elegant restaurant close by. We ladies were all a little unsure whether our other halves had booked us into a burger bar or if they had in fact gone all out and chosen an A La Carte restaurant. Oh we have little faith.... they surpassed our expectations and the boys done good ! On our arrival we
were greeted by the hostess Anita who extended her hospitality and friendliness making all 13 of us feel welcome (children included) - nothing was too much trouble. The choice of food on the menu is mouth watering and extensive, and the set menus are great value for money. I selected to opt for the set menu with a starter of tomato and mozzarella bruschetta, followed by a succulent rump steak and a delicious chocolate crunch dessert …
..and the whole dining experience was superb. There is a good variety of children’s choices too and even my daughter, who can be very hard to please when it comes to food, thoroughly enjoyed her meal. The large comfortable outside terrace is a lovely place to enjoy drinks before and after your meal, and there are even some board games to keep the children amused. However, one of the games discovered ended up keeping the adults among us entertained throughout the evening as we quizzed each other at the “Blast from the past” card quiz game.
Rivingtons family run venue really has thought of everything and the attention to detail is a credit to brother and sister partnership, Steve and Anita. If you haven’t already been to Rivingtons then I can’t recommend it highly enough...if you have already been, I’m sure you’ll plan to go again. It is no wonder they have been awarded “Certificate of
Excellence” by TripAdvisor. I have
already booked a table for 20 to return in mid September, with many friends opting to join us on our recommendation. Rivingtons is currently open Tuesday – Sunday from 10am – 11pm serving breakfasts, tapas and lunches as well as A la Carte options and Menu del Dia. I have recently been informed that bookings are now being taken for the festive period with a Pre Christmas Menu, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, however be sure to book up early to avoid disappointment as I’m sure it will sell out fast. You can contact Rivingtons on 966 727 748, view their website at
www.rivingtonscafe.com or follow them on Facebook for up to date information.
