Rosacea Treatments By Yvonne Rollinson Rosacea is a complaint suffered by many and can be very diffi cult to manage. It causes facial redness

and makes the skin highly sensitive to the sun and skincare products. It is an infl ammatory condition that causes redness and often red bumps fi lled with pus. Other symptoms include visible blood vessels on cheeks and nose, redness of the nose and frequent fl ushing of the face. It is a chronic condition and worsens if left untreated.

So what can be done? For the redness and pustule problem, treatment using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is effective. It is a non-ablative light treatment using high pulses of visible light to treat the problem. IPL reduces the redness and fl ushing; the process is called photo rejuvenation and will give the complexion a much clearer appearance. The IPL targets vascular legions under the skin, especially on the cheeks, nose, and forehead.

An improvement can be seen after 3 or 4 regular treatments, together with the use of topical creams, the right skincare products and Vitamin K and Omega 3 and 6 supplements.

It is important to avoid too much alcohol, spicy and acidic foods like vinegar and acidic fruits, caffeine, sugar and aspartame.

The IPL that I use for my treatments is a Chromolite. This machine has the unique Smartlite technology.

For the visible red veins on the face, the advanced technology of the Veinwave is used. This uses thermo-coagulation to close down and seal facial veins. This machine uses heat and a very fi ne needle. The effects are immediate and long lasting, and the treatments are done in short 15 minute sessions.
