OT LAB was commissioned to undertake a major revamp of the interior of Keyla, a 45 metre motor yacht.

The Milan based design firm worked closely with RMK Marine, a super-yacht builder based in Turkey, on the brief that involved substantial stylistic changes to the vessel as well as a major technical update of on board equipment.

The owner’s first request was alterations to the crew and service area. The laundry room was resized to fit additional cabins in the crew quarters, allowing for an increase in on board staff.

A 6.5-foot hull extension added space to create a larger swimming platform without adversely affecting the Keyla’s original lines.

Hot Lab and RMK Marine re-designed the

main saloon, upper lounge, sundeck and the bridge. The galley was not altered in terms of layout, but important upgrades were made to equipment.

The electrical systems were comprehensively updated with the installation of new generators. Other systems like the hydraulics were completely replaced. The only untouched system after the refit was the air conditioning.

This radical renovation has left the yacht more akin to a newly built vessel.

HOT LAB studios is a Milan based design company specialising in luxury refit and interior design for yachts.
