ONE-PIECE POOLS

SUNDANCE – TWO NEW POOLS FOR THE SPRING SEASON This spring, Sundance Pools will be launching two new ceramic fibreglass pools and size wise, these will slot in at either end of their ceramic flat-bottomed range. The smallest is 4.5m x 2.5m and the largest is 10m x 3.8m. The decision to add to either end of the range was taken after Europe-wide market research suggested that there was a need for both smaller and larger pools. For Sundance, the advantages of one- piece pools are shared equally between the end user and the installer. The consumer gets a high quality, long-lasting factory made product that is easy to maintain. The installer has a product that can be installed very efficiently, minimising time on site whilst maximising profits. Because the end-product is so good, customers end up being very pleased with the result and feel that fibreglass offers great value for money – even though they are usually marginally more expensive than a liner pool. Sundance Pools first introduced its range of pools to the UK in the mid-90s, and whilst their pools have been very popular with end users, the pool trade (to whom they offer pool shells via a discount structure) have been reluctant on the uptake. This is gradually changing, in part due to consumer demand for fibreglass which is on the increase. Invariably, the majority of

customers who discover one-piece pools go down that route as a ‘common sense’ option. Following the recent trend towards flat- bottomed pools, in the last two years, Sundance have increased this area of their range whilst adding a ceramic option. The ceramic pools command a 20-year limited warranty which gives their customers confidence in the material. The ceramic core in the fibreglass offers increased stiffness and insulation, whilst the same gelcoat

finish remains. Ceramic pools should not be confused with tiled fibreglass pools. Having come in to the pool market as consumers 16 years ago, Sundance pride themselves on providing as much assistance as possible to their customers. Their priority is to get people swimming.

CASE STUDY The Übercool Riviera – Built In Germany, Owned By Germany!

When looking to add a barn style pool room to the east side of his farmhouse, businessman Chris Germany called in the services of local pool and spa specialists, Scottubs & Pools of Nottinghamshire. With his surname plus an existing passion for well-engineered German products, little persuasion was needed when the German manufactured RivieraPool Linear XL in granite black complete with swim jets and Cobra waterfall was suggested to Chris. Talking about the project, Managing Direcor of Scottubs, Scott Bower says: “Chris was keen to preserve the views across the parkland and ensure the project

was sympathetic to the existing buildings and farm estate. With planning permission granted, the pool was ordered and arrived some eight weeks later. Meanwhile, the footings for the building and the hole for the pool were excavated. When the pool arrived, it took only a couple of hours for it to be placed in position.

“The first fix for the pool and the heating and ventilation were completed with ease and then it was over to the builder for the pool hall to be built over the pool.

“As this was the first Riviera pool I have installed I would have expected to say that I had a couple of problems but I actually had none! Everything went smoothly and John Whiteside and the team at Certikin were on hand to offer advice all the way through the build.

“I am delighted to say that the pool and the build is performing way beyond everyone’s expectations and the

client is over the moon. Everything on the project, right down to the finest detail (for instance the 50W halogen underwater mini lights and natural black granite copings) are pure quality and look fantastic. “All the team at Certikin have been very helpful throughout the build but I would like to say a special thank you to John Whiteside for all his help and support throughout. “The pool has now been up and running for over nine months and the pool hall has been kept at a constant 31°C. In total the pool has cost £18.50 per week in LPG gas and electricity to heat and light.” A delighted Chris Germany says: “The Riviera is fabulous! I was instantly sold on the idea of a one-piece pool and the quality of the Riviera is outstanding. We have been
