New Season Pool Water Quality – What You Should Be Aiming For

• Maintain pH levels within the ideal range 7.2-7.6. If the level is not in this range, keep adjusting till you reach it.

• Keep free chlorine residuals in the 1-3mg/l (ppm) range. Shock or oxidising the water either weekly or fortnightly with a maximum of 10mg/l (ppm) for a full shock treatment.

• Always check the wind direction before broadcasting a chemical on the water surface. • Repeat dose/application if necessary to achieve desired level. • After shock treatment, allow the chlorine to drop below 5mg/l before bathing. recommences, and in any event wait for at least 30 minutes.

The use of BAYROL’s Superflock Plus is recommended as part of a weekly pool maintenance regime as is regular use of FilterShock Tabs

With the pump running, cleaning filter media can be achieved quickly through using BAYROL FilterShock Tabs. In the event of calcium precipitation causing the filter sand to clump, it can be regenerated with the use of BAYROL Decalcit Filter to remove calcium deposits. With the pump and filter now running and the filter media in good condition, it is now time to shock dose with chlorine. Whether it’s a granular shock treatment or liquid it is important to remember to balance the pH once again afterwards. With a good quality flocculation such as BAYROL Superflock Plus working to help the filter remove even the smallest of particles the pool should be ready for swimming once the water has reached a

desirable temperature and the chlorine and pH levels are within the recommendations. The use of Superflock Plus is recommended as part of a weekly pool maintenance regime and regular use of FilterShock Tabs to help keep the filter clean and free of bacteria is also recommended. The regular application of an algaecide is good practice such as BAYROL Desalgine which can be tested for using the BAYROL Quick Test Strips. By doing this you can be confident that the correct level of an algaecide is in the water working to help prevent algae bloom in the height of the season.

By keeping a check on the chlorine level and pH levels in addition to a regular clean of the filter and application of algaecide the pool water should run clear and free of algae which have become the bain of pool owners.

FI-CLOR RANGE TARGETS NEW SEASON SWIMMING POOLS With a number of products available from Certikin, getting an outdoor swimming pool up and running for the new season shouldn’t be too difficult at all.

When it comes to chemicals, one of the ranges the company supplies is the popular

With a number of products available, Certikin has a number of solutions for the new season including the Fi-Clor range

Fi-Clor brand. For pools that run on chlorine, the water can be shock dosed with Fi-Clor Superfast Shock, which is an unstabilised granular chlorine that gets to work the moment it is dissolved.

The high dose of chlorine will kill off any algae spores and bacteria that might be lurking in liner creases or in the surface of tile grouting. This will provide as near sterile water as possible. Pool water needs to kept in good condition throughout the spring and summer as the chlorine will soon dissipate so adding Fi-Clor Multi-Functional Algicide is a good idea. Its special formulation contains a Long Life Algicide, Water Clarifier and Anti Stain and Scale additives, which prevent the formation of scale and staining from dissolved minerals.

Pools that use bromine, can be shock dosed with Fi-Clor Superfast Shock. This should then be followed by the prescribed dose of Fi-Clor Multi-Functional Algicide. Baquacil (PHMB) is a non-chlorine sanitiser which is totally incompatible with chlorine and bromine therefore Baquacil Shock and Baquacil Concentrated Algicide should be used. To help you get ready for the new season, until 30 April, Certikin have some great spring chemical offers on products in the Fi-Clor range plus other products including Swimfresh shock and algecide, Kleenpool and Clear n Clean.
