determining who should receive what level of Award! It is always pleasing to see the high quality of the entries, and this will aid us in showcasing why it is important to work with our members.”

Jonathan Bunn (Managing Director at Hydropool UK) collected their awards on the night, commenting: “We are ecstatic to be recognised at the BISHTA awards this year, especially alongside such worthy contenders. Our whole team strives for excellence in all that we do, and winning these awards demonstrates their fantastic dedication.” For the second year running All Swim picked up the Peter Geekie Award for Retail Excellence along with the awards for Best Showroom and Best Website. Jane Veysey (Director at All Swim) collected their awards and commented: “We are honoured to have been acknowledged at the SPATA and BISHTA awards, picking up these awards for the second year in a row is wonderful! We are especially pleased to have been recognised with a Gold for the Peter Geekie Award for Retail Excellence, we pride ourselves on exceptional customer service. These fantastic awards are a great testimony to our team’s devotion and professionalism.” Naomi Mace of Deep End Pools won the ‘Paul Kite Award For Pool Star Of The Year’ and recognition was given by the industry to Patrick Thorpe (Certikin International) who was presented with the much coveted ‘Outstanding Service to Industry’ award. Patrick officially retired from Certikin in 2013 after 36 dedicated years of service.
However, he has retained his connection with Certikin on a consultancy basis. Talking about his wider industry involvement, BSPF President, Chris Hayes says: “Patrick has been a stalwart of SPATA and the other companies within the BSPF family. He remains as Company Secretary not only for SPATA, but also BSPF, BISHTA and PIP and can be relied upon for both financial and technical advice. He sits on SPATA’s Technical Committee and currently represents SPATA at the BSI (British Standards Institution) where he provides a valuable voice for our industry at home and abroad. He is one of the main representatives for the UK in the development of European Standards for domestic pools.” Patrick says: “Winning the Industry Award is a great honour, and it fills me with tremendous pride to have been awarded this accreditation by the industry. I will treasure this award and look forward to taking some time out to enjoy my gift; I am sure I can persuade a few of my fellow peers to join me on the golf course.” Chris Hayes said: “We congratulate all the winners of both the SPATA and BISHTA Awards this year. As we set our standards high, the bar has been raised with the outstanding quality of entries this year, which led to some stiff competition making it a difficult job for the judges in
Hydropool UK were ecstatic having scooped five BISHTA awards
Chris continued: “It was also pleasing to see a number of new award recipients, as well as some companies that have won previously. The publicity generated from the Awards will help to promote our industry to the end user, and this is vital to continue to generate business and turn customer dreams into reality.” The SPATA and BISHTA awards provide a fantastic opportunity for the industry to come together providing far more than a reason to celebrate on the evening, in business terms it’s a chance to network with industry peers, where new contacts and business relationships are begun. Ultimately, the awards are an important platform to showcase the best available hot tubs, spas and swimming pools, raising the profile of the wet leisure industry (as a whole) and driving awareness to UK consumers. It’s never been a better time to join SPATA/ BISHTA, working together to give our industry a stronger voice! SPN
