EcoHomes
A Building Research Establishment (BRE) scheme that awards points for environmental good practice for new-build housing in Scotland. Houses achieve ratings from Good to Excellent. As of April 2007 the Code for Sustainable Homes is used for the assessment of new
housing in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Due to the introduction of the Code in April 2007, the EcoHomes scheme for ‘new build’ in England, Wales and Northern Ireland expired on 8 April 2012.

Environmental Non-Governmental Organisation EPD
Environmental Product Declaration – communicates the outcome of a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) of the environmental impact of a building material, product or system throughout the product’s lifecycle. An EPD provides information for a number of environmental impact categories, including raw material extraction, energy use, air, soil and water emissions, water use and waste generation.
ETA
European Technical Approval (see ITT and BBA) – issued to products for which mandated or harmonised European Standards have not been agreed and, coupled with an appropriate Attestation of Conformity procedure, will allow their manufacturers to affix the CE marking to them for placement anywhere within the EU market.
ETI
Ethical Trading Initiative. An alliance of companies, trade unions and voluntary organisations working in partnership to improve the lives of poor and vulnerable workers across the globe.
ETTF
European Timber Trade Federation – comprises federations from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and UK.
