CEN/TC 350


The CEN technical committee, whose scope deals with sustainability of construction works, has the mandate to develop harmonised standards that will provide a horizontal (ie applicable to all product/building types) approach to the measurement of environmental, social and economic impacts of construction products and whole buildings across the entire lifecycle. The standards are to be voluntary. The scope of the standards being developed in TC 350 has been extended to include economic and social performance of buildings.

Cross-Laminated Timber – manufactured by adhesively laminating small sections of timber to create a panel that can be used as the structural component for walls, floors roofs and balconies.

Chain of Custody – essentially a generic phrase for systems that allow for accurate traceability of wood through the supply chain back to the forest of source.

Confederation of Forest Industries – a federation of principally domestic organisations representing domestic growers, sawmillers and the Forestry Commission.


CPA


Construction Products Association - represents the UK manufacturers and suppliers of construction product components and fittings.


CPET


Central Point of Expertise on Timber – the Government’s reference point for all timber procurement in the public sector. Since 2012, CPET has been run by EFECA. CPET advises the relevant Government Minister of timber procurement policy and provides advice and guidance to procurement officers.


CPI


Corruption Perception Index by Transparency International. The CPI is an index of perceived levels of corruption in countries around the world.


CPR


Construction Products Regulation - from 1 July 2013, certain wood and wood-based products destined for the construction market and covered by a Harmonised European Standard (hEN) or European Technical Approval (ETA) must be CE Marked and have a manufacturers Declaration of Performance in order to be placed on the UK and EU construction products markets.


CSA


Canadian Standards Association – a North American certification scheme.

Corporate Social Responsibility CTWPDA


China Timber and Wood Product Distribution Association CW


Controlled Wood. Wood harvested from non- controversial sources. CW must show it is not illegal; in violation of traditional and civil rights; from forests where high conservation values are threatened by management
