have as much or as little sun and fresh air as you wish. The final stage also lowers the rear window but i don’t advise it - rear vision becomes almost non-existent as the folds of the hood are in the way. The cabin is a nice blend of modern functionality with retro-styling, there is plenty of room for front occupants and adults can also use the rear seats for shorter trips. Boot
NISSAN JUKE
Nissan’s charismatic Juke is one crossover model which really catches the eye, and its visual appeal and strong style statement are key reasons why this model sells well when new and maintains robust second-hand value. The Juke comes with four different-output 1.6 litre petrol engines (93hp to 197 hp) and there is also a 1.5 litre diesel unit offering 109 hp. The petrol engines are quick when revved though most will find the diesel more flexible to drive, with good mid-range punch and better fuel economy. Both front-wheel and all-wheel drive models are available. Though taller than conventional cars, the Juke doesn’t pitch on the corners and delivers a firm but still very comfortable ride. The speed-sensitive power steering feedback isn’t as intuitive as it might be but overall, the car does feel agile and assured. Juke prices start at £12,995 and even entry level models
feature alloys, air-con and power windows and for some potential buyers will prove best-value. My recent test model was a mid-range 1.5 litre diesel
offering 80hp, in n-tec trim with front-wheel drive and priced at £17,690. It is well kitted at the price, with touch-screen navigation, colour reversing camera, CD Radio/MP3, Bluetooth, cruise control, speed limiter, trip computer, six airbags, climate control, alloy wheels, privacy glass, and all-round power windows. Top speed is 109 mph, the 0-60 mph time is 11.2 seconds and fuel

space is good by class standards as the roof does not intrude into the space, and the seats also fold for larger items. Overall, the 500C is a beguiling package with a trendy
image. It is fun to drive, yet still provides everyday practicality. FOR: Fun factor, cool image, great fuel economy. AGAINST: Driver’s seat isn’t height adjustable.
consumption is 58.9 mpg combined. My week of mixed driving produced 43 mpg so those with a light foot should be able to achieve rather more. With striking exterior looks, the Juke appeals to its more
youthful target buyers, and the standard tech-kit also tick the must-have boxes for this sector. The cabin is well laid out, though rather dark, with lots of black trim and narrow
