approved dog ice cream, and said he is looking to help the business develop through innovation and looking for new opportunities. “We have some really great products,” he said. “And we sell them wholesale to places like the Dartmouth Golf and Country Club. We are working with chefs to innovate and create some great new products that they want to put on their menus. Part of our plan is to increase this wholesale network. “We are also combining really interesting flavours to create unique products, like out blue cheese ice cream, which I pre- pared for Duncan Bannatyne of Dragon’s Den – he certainly seemed to like it!” Having just come through his first Regatta and about to taste his first Dartmouth Food Festival, Alasdair said he felt he was getting to know Dartmouth and love it too. “This is clearly a special place with a real buzz about it,” he said. “Regatta was so busy and fun and I’m really looking forward to the Food Festival – I’m hoping I can convince some of the chefs to use our products for demonstrations – we know we do great stuff and I’m sure they’ll be happy to use it.”


Alasdair said the main thing in life was not just work but balancing it with his home life too. “I’m pleased to be out of the restaurant trade at the mo-


ment,” he said. “I want to have the evenings to spend time with Jess and Isla, who are my main focus. But I’m a person who loves being busy and having a challenge, and I’m pleased to be working everyday to help the Dartmouth Ice Cream Company grow and become successful.”

ne of Santa’s Little Helpers tells us that


Candlelit Dartmouth are already being booked up by canny local traders. “Last year, around 50 retailers from the region enjoyed record sales during Candlelit Dartmouth’s Festive Weekend” explained Steve Thomas, Candlelit’s


Committee Chairman. This year, however, the Committee is hoping to attract even more local support via an extra discount of over 30%, if you book and pay for your very own stall before October 31st 2013.


As Steve pointed out “Over the past 7 years, Candlelit


Dartmouth has become one of the highlights of the Dartmouth calendar. So whether you’re a local retailer, local club, charity – or just a ‘local’ – now’s the time to book your stall”.
