Primary

Two recently played host to an

appreciative “gang” of parents, relatives and friends at their “Senses” showcase. They had prepared a range of activities and experiments which helped their visitors understand how their five senses work.. Angus explained “We had to guide our mums and dads around the activities. ”We were teachers for the afternoon” added Euan.

The visitors explored amazing taste sensations, fabulous ”feely boxes”, played “Kim’s game” and tried their noses at smelly quizzes. Parents and children had the opportunity to make music with lots of different percussion instruments, many made by the pupils themselves.

Parents were also treated to a song about the senses performed by the children of Primary Two. And the final verdict? “Fabulous, exciting, fantastic, terrific and wonderful“ were just some of the adjectives the children and parents used to describe the afternoon!

Newton’s Bronze Young Ambassadors

We are Jack Thomson and Anna Fraser and we are Newton’s Bronze Young Sports Ambassadors. It is our job to promote sport in our school and wider community. Throughout our time at Dunblane High School we will continue in our roles as Young Ambassadors for sport. At the moment we are in the process of organising Paralympic events for the pupils at Newton which will take place at the end of the summer term. We are doing this to

raise awareness of different disabilities and to promote the 7 Paralympic values; Excellence, Respect, Friendship, Determination, Inspiration, Courage and Equality.

We would also like to share with you some of the recent sporting achievements at Newton Primary School. In the Boys’ Brigade 5-a-side football tournament we were pleased to see so many different teams taking part; some even had players mixed from other schools.

It was a great success

and two of our teams at Newton were pleased to be rewarded as winning teams; P7’s Newton Galacticos and P5’s Newton Gladiators. Lots of teams took part and we think that everyone had a great time.

On Wednesday 29th May a team of 12 talented pupils took part in the Stirling Schools Track and Field tournament.
