After the Fling comes the Swing (golf, of course!).
Now the race has been run and the prizes presented, the total amount raised at last month’s Duck Race at the Fling was over £4,700. The Children’s Hospice Association Scotland, ChildLine and other Rotary causes will benefi t from the community’s generosity in supporting this event.
Now Rotary’s fund raising attention moves on to our next event which is our annual Am-Am Golf competition held at Dunblane New Golf Club which provides the course and facilities free of charge, and sponsored once again by Farmfoods whose generosity over the past 14 years has helped us to raise over £300,000 for Strathcarron Hospice since the event began 29 yrs ago.
Last summer’s appalling weather led to the cancellation of the event, however other Club fundraising activities managed to make up the shortfall.
After the Am-Am, the Club’s next fundraising venture will be at the Doune and Dunblane Show on 6 July when once again the Club’s renowned crepe makers will be in action.
While these events are two of the high-profi le local activities for the club, it is also involved with several overseas projects including the participation, alongside the Bill Gates Foundation, in striving to eliminate Polio throughout the world.
The recent “New Membership Evening” held in Doune has been very successful with two proposals for membership already being processed.
If you would like to be involved with a very dynamic and friendly local organisation why not get in touch with the Club either by the website, The Secretary, or just come along to one of our Thursday meetings at the Westlands Hotel which begin 6pm for a 6.30 start.
