Change of plan for sending guns in mail

Key supplier trebles in size

Sporting Wholesale’s premises move, which more than tripled its warehousing and offi ce space, refl ects the enormous and ever- growing demand for its products, particularly NGT-branded items. T e move from Elstree to

Harpenden in January has ensured greater stock holding, cutting-edge technologies, higher effi ciency, improved speed plus new products. But these are all just the

beginning for what is now one of Europe’s largest sporting

wholesalers, which continues to grow each day. T e location is much more

accessible to customers around the country due its close proximity to the M1 and A1(M) motorway networks. Trade customers can now visit

the new, fully stocked showroom to see Sporting Wholesale’s range, or to just have a chat. Trade customers can simply

sign up by visiting www. sportingwholesale.com or calling 0845 124 2929.

NiteSite forced to expand

NiteSite, the new night-vision brand, has been forced to quadruple the size of its manufacturing outfi t and hire more staff to keep up with growing demand. T e York-based company was only launched in July 2011 but its NS50 and NS200 units have proved very popular around the world. Sales manager Jacob Horwell revealed: “One of the main reasons

we are having to expand our premises and workforce is due to interest from overseas. “NiteSite is 100 per cent British – from its research and design

department right through to the engineering, construction, sales and, fi nally, despatch. It is great news for the British shooting industry and we are hugely proud of how much we have achieved in such a short space of time.” T e world-patented units convert conventional telescopic sights into night vision in a matter of seconds, allowing the performance of the shooter’s daytime setup the stealth of clear night vision. NiteSite works by fi tting an infrared camera onto a daytime

scope eye-piece, which then relays the sight picture to the monitor mounted on top of the scope.

Low-powered airguns, their components and accessories, imitation fi rearms, antique fi rearms and deactivated fi rearms will continue to be carried in the post. T at’s the result of the Royal

Mail’s consultation, which last year threatened an end to the practice of transporting all guns and their component parts. T e fi rm will also allow the carriage of airgun and airsoft pellets in the post. T e consultation sparked a

massive response from shooters, the trade and organisations such as the Gun Trade Association, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation and the Countryside Alliance, who all objected to the proposals.
